Not what I thought it was going to be. Full of surprises. By the time chapter 4 came and went, I found myself needing more (the story really hit me). I was making assumptions on who this or that character was, and what might happen. After looking down at my kindle and realizing I was getting towards the end, I was mad! It's not very often that I can't put down a book, and here this one is almost ending. There were many twists to the story (I won't ruin it by going into detail), that most of my assumptions were delightfully wrong. The depth of the characters and story line was awesome, and well written. There isn't much fluff to the book, so it's more like a short story in it's length. Which again is nice because it drives me crazy when authors take 3 pages to tell you it was sunny day. The way it was written made my imagination run wild and fein for more. I hope to see much more from this author.

I can see a crazy good movie out of this! I'm having a hard time thinking of a story line like this one!

emotionally rousing (not sexually)

Cons:
too short
wanted more from the ending.. maybe a sequal?
got in trouble for not putting the kindle down once i started :)

Surprisingly not what I expected! And in a good way! This is a great story about a soldier's view of life, family, and war from a very different perspective than I'm used to. The story put me right in Hare's shoes as he dealt with his day to day thrills and struggles.I had a hard time putting it down as I could not wait to find out what happened next. I am looking forward to the final version and hope to see more from this author!
